Each year more than 15,000 participants from 60 countries gather to present and discuss basic, translational, and clinical research in every subdiscipline.

A record number of 17,000 people attended the 2006 AACR Annual Meeting in Washington, DC to participate in more than 450 sessions, including the following:Educational Sessions / Methods Workshops. Part of the Educational Program held on the first day of the meeting (and the source of presentations for the AACR Education Book), these sessions covered a broad range of new knowledge in cancer research for both early-career and senior scientists.
Meet-the-Expert Sunrise Sessions. Interactive sessions featured leaders in cancer research presenting the latest findings in critical areas and discussing them with the audience.
Minisymposia. These sessions enabled the authors of proffered abstracts to deliver oral presentations of their work and to engage in a discussion of the work with the audience.
New Concepts in Organ Site Research. State-of-the-art overviews of current research in 14 specific organ sites, presenting new findings in basic, translational, and clinical research and discussing future challenges and opportunities.
Poster Sessions. These sessions presented proffered abstracts grouped into topics of interest with an emphasis on group discussion.
Symposia. These sessions featured detailed presentations on timely topics by leading experts in various fields as well as periods for extended discussion.
Forums. These sessions addressed provocative issues in the cancer community by presenting multiple viewpoints from leaders in the field.
